Synopsis
On a train, a chance companion tells Mr. Pender he has no patience for mystery novels, since real murderers get caught--he's interested only in the ones who don't, and describes in careful detail how a killing can be made to look like natural causes. Soon after, a string of deaths matching those exact methods begins turning up, with the same stranger somehow present each time.
